an hipersexualisized society and how it affects us

Lately i been hearing a lot of teenagers boys talking about masturbation and their sexual life openly in school, in some cases even asking girls about them without thinking that they may not feel confortable talking about that. This scenario would never been posible  not a long time ago. So I wanted to talk today about how sex is seen in the actuality. Sexuality has always been a important part on our society but it's easy to notice that lately, this past years, it has gotten a different perception and it's way more present and explicit in our everyday life. To understand this change of perception and be able to take a conclusion we are gonna go back to the 60s for a minute.

"The sexual revolution" or "The sexual liberation" it's a movement born in the 60s that will reach its maximum point during the 70s-80s. The sexual revolution fighted for the normalisation of nudity, the sexual education at schools, the investigation of sexual diseases and challenged concepts like sexual morality, sexual relations and the demonization of sexual pleasure, it also criticized themes like sexual abstinence before marriage etc Thanks of this, people view has changed a lot and now most of people agree with what the movement defensed. So after this, sex started to appear in a lot of media.

The first movie where nudity appears is born in the 33' but for censure reasons we won't start seeing this type of cinema again until years later. In 1954 Marylin Monroe appears naked at the cover of the Playboy magazine and we could say that after that, Hollywood stars making films with more sexual themes like "Blowup" or "Persona"(that isn't a explicit movie but talks very freely about sexual experiences of a woman). Then in the 69' "Midnight cowboys" becomes the first X movie in winning an oscar. What all the movies during this era have in common is that the ones getting naked and being sexualised the most are woman. So what was expected to be a normalisation of naked bodys and a fight against people that tried censored sexual liberty becomes the objectification of women, movies made for a male audience where the female characters function is to pleasure the male. Even the nonsexual movies ended up doing stuff like that, for example in "Gentlemen prefer blondes" even if we had some good monologues and dialogues about women liberty at the end of the film, we still had to see a scene of the actresses' boot being stuck in a very small window and her trying hard to get off, we even got a zoom, or scenes of her being with a very very old man. We are not even going to talk about the success Playboy had during this years and the horrible experience the "bunnys" went through. Neither I'll be talking about the "Lolita" phenomenon because then this entry will never end, but I would like to talk about the stereotypes Hollywood created during this era like: the femme fatale or the bimbo woman (that will be the next blog entry)

The rest is history, sex starts being the centre of everything: music videos, lyric songs, TV shows, books (I hate you booktok) and the p0rn industry. This last thing is definitely the most concerning.

I'll be telling you statistics from studies made by the government: 90% of teenagers consume p0rn, the average age for starting to watch this type of content is 8yo (actually insane) males consume the double of content than females do, most of them watch it for the first time accidentally, 30% of teenagers consider it their only way of learning about sexual education (actually dangerous considering this type of stuff in the worst cases can include violence or unhealthy sex relations) Still 90% of the parents think they're kids don't watch this content.

I also realised that a lot of people from a young age has a perspective of sex, nudity and expectations from the female and male body made only by consuming sexual content and that's actually pretty sad, and I wish that schools teached more sexual education to avoid this happening. You know we failed as a society when realize 11yo kids have a p0rn addiction.

I don't have anything more to say but I would like to know your thoughts on this topic and what solutions do you find.
